I finally figured out what “booked and busy” really means — sick and exhausted.
Well, I recently learned the hard way that an overbooked schedule will eventually overrule you. For the first time in my life, I caught the flu—because I ran myself into the ground.
My schedule and my immune system had a fight… and my immune system lost.
And a friend had to remind me:
Walk. Your. Talk. Ouch.
I see this all the time with my clients, especially women in leadership. We pack our schedules, we push through, we say, “I’ll rest later.” Or I’ll rest AFTER I’m on the other side of this busy season, or AFTER I finish this project. But later turns into, “I’m sick in bed, canceling everything.” Sound familiar?
You either need to make time for rest and self-care or you’ll need to make time for illness, doctor’s visits – or worse.
Here’s the deal: Rest is a STRATEGY, not a SETBACK.
It’s not about being less productive — it’s actually about re-energizing and recharging yourself so you can be MORE efficient and MORE effective. And it’s about being able to sustain this schedule and stay in the game for the long haul.
So here’s my challenge to you: Open your calendar right now and figure out where and how you can create some white space. Can you mayhaps schedule yourself some white space on Monday mornings or Friday afternoons?
Lead your schedule, or it will lead you… straight to exhaustion.
Speaking of schedules, I’m happy to say that I’m making the podcast rounds promoting my new Amazon Best Selling book, Live and Lead by Choice, Not by Chance. I’m also speaking at several women’s conferences this year – and I’m excited to say that thanks to a generous sponsor, Vanessa Walker with Argent Wealth Management Services, every member of the audience will receive a copy of my book!
Reach out if you’re planning a women’s event – I’d love to share my message. The more, the merrier!
And of course, if you’d like a guide on the side, and you’re wondering if coaching might be a good fit for you, schedule your discovery call.
