What’s It Costing You?

What’s It Costing You?

Today I want to ask you 3 rather provocative questions:

      1. Are you living life, or are you letting life live you?

I’ve been having conversations with lots of women in mid-career, midlife and beyond and it makes me sad to hear that many really don’t have a vision or a plan for how they want to live in this age, stage, and season of life – whether that’s about career, family, retirement, travel, their legacy…

It’s almost like they’re a piece of driftwood, drifting wherever the tide takes them.

I’ve had the honor of working with Amazon over the past few years and I’ve incorporated their 14 Principles of Leadership into my work. One of those principles is “Take Ownership.”

When you take ownership, it’s like you step into the role of CEO of your life. You’re not waiting around for someone to bestow upon you some dream life.

Maybe you haven’t heard, so let me be the first to tell you: YOU. Get. To. Choose!

You really do. And if you don’t choose for yourself, someone will choose for you. Why would you give away your right to direct the course of your life?

        1. What are you doing to continue to learn, grow, and develop?

I know some women are happy to participate in learning and development programs – as long as their organization is footing the bill. I have no experience with that. My whole career – if I wanted to attend a program, a class, hire a coach, or learn something new, it was on my own dime. There was NO budget bestowed upon me – I just took ownership.

Remember, if you’re not growing, you’re dying. If you rest, you rust. Are you willing to invest in yourself?

          1. What’s it costing you to stay in the drift?

Because I guarantee you that you’re paying a price. Whether that’s in missed opportunities, unfulfilled dreams, unresolved challenges, lost relationships, or unrealized potential.

Some women feel that because they’re approaching retirement in a few years, they don’t have anything to plan. Are you kidding me?

I don’t know about you, but I have a lot of life left to live and I’m not going to leave it to chance.

What would it be worth to you to have clarity and a game plan as you live in every age, stage, and season of life?

        Peter Drucker said,

“The best way to predict the future is to create it.”

If you’d like to step into the role of CEO of your life, then my new program, Live and Lead by Choice is for you.

LLC is a group of women in mid-career, midlife, and beyond who want to be intentional and on-purpose about how they approach life. We’ll gather twice a month virtually and you’ll have me as a guide on the side to walk you through my framework for creating the life you want to live, to become the leader you were meant to be, and to leave a lasting positive legacy.
